The hardest times to be grateful and express gratitude are during the hardest times. Those are also the most important and most rewarding times to be thankful.
We know this year has been a huge struggle for so many, and we wanted you to know we're grateful for you even has things have not been entirely easy for the High Sabatino family. As late as this week, we had hoped to get together as company to celebrate the holidays, but as this year goes, a friend of a friend of a friend -- or insert any other scenario here -- has tested positive, and now we're wondering if COVID has infiltrated our own walls.
As I said, this is the way it goes in 2020. It's tough. We lose the ability to be around our friends and customers, even visits with our own grandchildren are potentially jeopardized. But that's when we have to look at the fact we have so many amazing friends and family members, and for that, I am grateful.
In many ways, this year reminds me of my old days on the gridiron. For those of you don't know, I was blessed to play football in college and fortunate enough to even be recruited by Nick Saban to the Naval Academy....not Alabama, but still.
Football taught me about the importance of teamwork and how working together can help the team succeed even in toughest of times when it seemed like the goal was never achievable. Football taught me that, even when it seems like the calls aren't going your way or the rules are changing right before your eyes, it's still possible to work together to achieve the unachievable.
Foodservice is no different. We're teammates at High Sabatino, and we consider our customers as part of our team. Our factories are certainly in the huddle with us, too. So I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, happy holidays, and we look forward to better times ahead in 2021.
