This year so many things are being canceled, and while it technically would have been over by this point, we can't help but think about Oktoberfest when this time of year rolls around.
A few years ago, we were lucky enough to attend the world's biggest festival, the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. If you're a fan of fun, it's one of the most incredible experiences you will ever have. The beer, the food, the music, the people -- they all combine to form what is much more than just a party. It's something you'll never forget.
All that said, this year's Oktoberfest was rightfully cancelled, especially when you consider it takes months to build the world famous beer tents that comprise the festival grounds. Even though this year is cancelled, it's also important to know this 200+ year event has been cancelled in the past. In the 1940s, for example, the Oktoberfest as we know it did not take place.
It's also important to know that while things may be altered from time to time, those traditions will eventually resume as they always have. Life goes on. Things will eventually get back to normal, and we'll all join the rest of the world at a table in one of the famous Oktoberfest biergartens.
Here at High Sabatino, we've also kept things going as best we can. Food and beverage continues in Virginia, Maryland, and in Washington, D.C., albeit those things look a little different right now. While we miss seeing everyone, we've been preparing our facilities for the day when everyone can come back.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank our great manufacturer partners over in Germany. From our friends at RATIONAL, who made our first trip to Oktoberfest possible and for doing so much to help our customers, to our friends at MEIKO, who know so much about sanitation and safety to go with their industry-leading energy savings, we'd like to say thank you.
Stay safe everyone, and we look forward to next fall when we can hopefully all share a big bier together... Prost!
